Statement Regarding ‘Wiseflow on Campus’ Exams

It has been brought to our attention that during the previous examination sessions in
February, certain examinations being held as ‘Wiseflow on Campus” were being held solely
in Malta. With provisional timetables starting to be formulated, it seems that the same is to
happen for the upcoming examination sessions.

The only materials needed for such exams are the students’ own laptops and chargers, as
well as adequate internet connection to run the Wiseflow Lock programme. This type of
exam session could easily have been achieved in Gozo, with some arrangements to the Gozo
University Campus or other of
ficial examination locations. It is a shame that such a campus
which is an extension to the University of Malta is available in Gozo but is not being utilised
to its full extent. With examseason looming close, we think it is imperative that this matter
is to be sorted imminently, so as to not cause further inconvenience to Gozitan students,
who have had to travel amidst the already stressful exam season last semester, coupled
with the heavy storms which they faced in February. Adequate internet connection should
already be available at the Gozo Campus, a necessary commodity nowadays. We would also
like to shed light on the lack of adequate equipment in the Gozo Campus to hold computer
assisted examinations. It is already a shame that the only use for the Gozo Campus is to hold
exam sessions and a limited number of small courses, but with the added inconvenience
that not all types of exams may be held on this Campus due to lack of equipment and basic
necessities, such as a proper internet connection.

This issue only goes to show the lack of attention and thought being put into the Gozitan
student body, since such an unnecessary problem could have easily been fixed had this been
thought of in due time. Gozitan students deserve better than such poor treatment.
