Gug’s Positive Reaction to Discussions on Making the Fast Ferry Free

The beginning of the new scholastic year, on the 26th of September, was met with surprisingly good news regarding updates on the fast ferry. The GUG has long been pushing for updates following the first mentions of the EDU Fast Ferry Card, to which none have been given.

We as an organisation have long expressed our disappointment at how the matter was left, especially considering the increasing need to use the fast ferry in the previous year, with the introduction of hybrid lectures coupled with slowly easing lectures back into normality. In a recent Newsbook Article, the Minister for Education, Clifton Grima, confirmed that talks are underway in order to make such a commute free for both Gozitan students and educators. This news was positively received by the GUG, for we encourage any ameliorative changes to the benefit of the Gozitan student. Albeit such a proposal is still in the discussion phase, this nonetheless signals a push in the right step in enhancing the University experience of present and future Gozitan students.
