A permanent accommodation refund scheme has been introduced for Gozitans who are unable to return to Gozo due to the suspension of the Gozo Channel service.
This measure benefits Gozitan students and workers who, because of bad weather that suspends ferry service, cannot return to Gozo and must remain in Malta.
For many students, this means an unexpected additional accommodation expense, despite already having to cover the costs of their studies and daily living. Through this scheme, this expense can be reimbursed, helping to reduce the financial burden on students and their families.
This is an important measure as it helps ensure that Gozitan students do not have to face financial difficulties because of a situation that is outside their control. It also shows the importance of recognizing the challenges faced by those who live in Gozo and travel to Malta for their studies or work.
