Welcoming the new scholastic year 2024/2025

Throughout the summer, GUG organised several successful events. One of the highlights was our Football Tournament, which brought together teams in a fun and competitive environment. Additionally, GUG was proud to take part in a beach cleanup organised by Vuci Kollettiva, collaborating with other student organisations to contribute to environmental sustainability efforts. Another exciting event GUG hosted was GUG’s first-ever Bingo Booze BBQ, providing students with an enjoyable way to unwind before the new academic year kicked off.

In addition to our efforts, GUG would like to provide a helpful update on the bus routes frequently used by students namely the Route X300, Route 300, and Route 150:

• Route 300 operates Monday to Friday with the first bus departing Lascaris at 06:40 and the last at 19:40, running every hour. The return from Sptar follows a similar schedule. On weekends, the first bus is at 06:40, and the last departs at 18:40.

• Route X300 operates from Ċirkewwa to Sptar on weekdays, starting at 06:30, with the last return bus at 17:45.

• Route 150 connects Lascaris to MCAST with the first bus leaving Lascaris at 06:40 and the last returning from MCAST at 18:15.

For detailed timings, please visit our Instagram page and check the ‘Bus Routes’ highlight. Additionally, students are encouraged to join the ‘Service Updates by Malta Public Transport’ group, managed by Tallinja, to stay informed about any changes or updates regarding Routes X300, 300, 150, and other bus routes.

Another significant update has been Gozo Highspeed’s new ferry timetable, which has been well-received by both students and workers who commute daily between Gozo and Malta. This change has made commuting smoother, and GUG has also received positive feedback from those who rely on this service.

On the academic front, GUG continued to advocate for the establishment of dedicated study spaces in Gozo, especially during the exam periods. These discussions are still ongoing, but GUG remains committed to making this initiative a reality, providing Gozitan students with more accessible facilities to support their studies. GUG will continue to work hard to represent and support the interests of Gozitan students, ensuring that they have the resources they need for both academic success and a balanced student life.

As we move forward, GUG would also like to wish all students the very best of luck for the upcoming academic year. GUG is here to support you throughout!
