The Gozo University Group (GUG) has been in active discussions with the Ministry for Education regarding the extreme weather conditions currently affecting Gozitan students who need to travel to Malta.
We would like to thank the Ministry, particularly Hon. Clifton Grima, for his prompt intervention in addressing the concerns raised. Following these discussions, the following updates have been confirmed:
MCAST: All lectures scheduled for Tuesday, 20 January will be held online. This measure ensures continuity of academic activities while reducing the need for travel during adverse weather conditions.
University of Malta (UM): As the University is currently in its examination period, all examinations and academic activities remain scheduled as planned unless students are informed otherwise by their respective faculties.
Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS): As of now, no official communication has been issued. Students are advised to proceed as planned until further updates are provided.
GUG urges all tertiary institutions to continue prioritising the safety of Gozitan students, who are disproportionately affected by travel disruptions in such conditions. We encourage timely and clear communication as the situation develops.
